The first Bad Assembly site was a minimal space odyssey featuring rainbow blobs, a bird with a jet pack, speedboats in space and a dark soundtrack to set the mood. We even tossed in an easter egg celebrating our infinite love of midi and music from the 80's. This site won an FWA and has been featured in various publications.

Saatchi LA came to us wanting a real-time multiplayer game housed within an ad-unit. We'd never seen it done before but were confident we could deliver an amazing experience. The game we designed and developed pit one user against another and, like in Spy vs. Spy, players could set traps for one other and use power ups to gain points as they drove around five custom-designed US cities.

Anticipating the short attention span of players we developed an advanced AI opponent to seamlessly take over in case one of the players left the game in the middle of a round. In other words, if Player A drops out, the AI automatically takes over and Player B is none the wiser. The game also features a robust single player mode.

Since this was a pioneering use of Flash Media Server, we worked closely with Adobe to ensure we were on the right development path. The game won an Adobe Site of the Day award and is part of Eyeblasterʼs creative showcase.

The Highlander Rich Media campaign, developed to work in tandem with the Experience site, brought users a step closer to getting the Highlander they wanted.

Users could choose the model and color they liked, and view the vehicle in 360-degrees within the banner. If the user clicked through to the Experience site, the site would automatically display the same configuration, making customizing a Highlander a total breeze.

If the user stayed within the banner, a geo-targeting web service we incorporated would quickly locate all Toyota dealerships in their area. A Yahoo! Maps function also allowed them to look for dealers anywhere in the country.

Users could text all of this info to their phone for later reference or download a customized e-brochure, that was generated on the fly, based on their vehicle configuration choices. The custom pdf also contained local dealer info.

Toyota needed a preview site to tease the new Sequoia before the full launch. We built a simple Flash interface with rich motion graphics that enabled users to explore a photo gallery and view specs. We also designed two large-scale, animated environmental backgrounds (sand and snow) to visually showcase the vehicle, and added original sound design to enhance the experience.

For the All-New Sequoia, Toyota wanted to show how much of an adventure owning a big SUV could be. Partnering with North Face, Zorb, Hurley, Jones Soda and Airstream, they sent five families on the road with cameras to document their unique outdoor activities. Ever wanted to know what rolling down a hill in a giant ball is like? You know you have. Get a Zorb!

These short films enhance their companion TV spots with pop-up infographics, mp3 downloads and highlighted vehicle features. This project was a Communication Arts Web Pick.

For Sony Pictures’ feature film The Ugly Truth, Sony was looking for a website that would keep the battle between the sexes going. In addition to the traditional movie site elements like trailers, cast/crew, synopsis and photo galleries, we also developed a suite of original games that incorporated “wisdom” from the film’s characters into the gameplay. A classic Cosmo-style quiz, a Magic 8-ball style advice game, and an elaborate choose-your-own-adventure story helped users figure out the ugly truth (or not) about love.

When History Channel launched their World War II in HD series, they wanted a companion website that made the content feel engaging and relevant to a modern day media consumer. We replaced black and white photography with bright color images, and used richly saturated hues with modern styling for design elements. 3D spins, interactive infographics and animated charts and maps brought the information to life.

For the All-New Highlander campaign, we created an experience site that not only expanded on the infographic theme of the campaign TV spots, but also gave users a 360-degree view of the vehicle that could be customized by color and model.

In the final site, users could experience in-depth vehicle fly-throughs to see more features and mini-demos. Light-hearted infographics used bizarre factoids to showcase the many vehicle features. An original score helped set the mood.

We were delighted to be chosen to work on the website for the History Channel’s award-winning special, 102 Minutes That Changed the World. The goal was to create an online home for the never-before-seen amateur footage of that harrowing 102 minutes -- the amount of time that elapsed between the first plane hitting the World Trade Center and the collapse of the second tower. As the backdrop for a highly charged and emotional topic, the site was designed to simply and cleanly present the content without being overwrought or distracting. We created an interactive 3D map that could be shifted and zoomed to serve as the entry point for the various videos. This project won an Interactive Media Award.

TV Guide tapped us to design the interface for “My Guide Online”, a place where customers could log in and manage their DVR devices, record programming, select their favorite shows and explore TV listings. The interface had to organize a massive amount of data, while still remaining simple to use. It also had to be customizable to the look and feel of specific programming providers. We focused on bright, friendly, modular design elements to keep things fresh.
